    My Local Yarn Store

A short 20 minute drive from my home in the village of Elmore is my favorite local yarn store -Crafty Needle Yarn and Threads.

The yarn shop sits next to a cute boutique, Whimsy and Blue, and a modern coffee shop, Christy’s Corner Cafe. The Crafty Needle Yarns and Threads shop is filled with all sorts of yarns and tools. From wool blends to cotton, speckled to solids, knitting needles to crochet hooks - they have it all.

In August I recieved 2 gorgeous skeins of Washted yarn by Malabrigo. The task was to use both yarns in one project to show how great these colors work up together.

Christie from The Crafty Needle picked out the two colors and they are so dreamy.

I originally was going to do a triangle scarf, I even started it and then frogged it. I decided to knit a cowl with a solid ribbed edge and a striped body with slipped stitches to show dimension and blend the colors. These two yarns blended so well you can hardly tell it’s even striped. I don’t know about you but I could start at this color combo for days - not to mention that it’s a dream to knit with.

When I finished the piece it ended up being a bit longer than I expected but turned out great because it doubles as an infinity scarf.

The cowl is so comfortable and light when worn as the photo above but when wrapped makes an incredible neck warmer as worn in the image below.

The Crafty Needle and Threads is such a wonderful place and offers so much to the community. There are classes, workshops, and even a weekly knit/crochet night. I even taught a workshop recently and it was so much fun. I lead a workshop for knitted pumpkins - you can find the pattern here.

If you are in Northwest Ohio or near Elmore I highly recommend visiting their shop. If you aren’t local I encourage you to find a local yarn store near you and get involved. Finding the fiber community has brought me so much joy, friendship, and more creativity than I know what to do with.

Thank you so much to The Crafty Needle Yarn and Threads for the beautiful yarn support.

I can’t wait for my next trip to the shop, cause you can never have enough yarn. ;) -Rin

P.S. Stay tuned, this cowl pattern and matching beanie will be releasing in early 2020...and possible hand dyed yarn kits 🤪
